Along with filing the income tax return, its e-verification is also necessary. This is an important task to keep your ITR valid. For this reason, you should do this important work in time. If you do not do e-verification within 30 days, then your ITR may be declared invalid.

Due to this you may have to face many problems. This includes delay in getting refund, penalty, notice from Income Tax, late fine, interest and many other problems. For 2024-25, more than 2.51 crore ITRs have been filed so far in the assessment year 2025-26. However, if e-verification is not done after filing ITR, then the filing is not considered complete. According to the Income Tax Department, if you do not do e-verification within 30 days of filing ITR, then in this situation you may have to file ITR again.

The process of e-verification is quite easy. You will not have to face any kind of problems in this. You can complete the process of e-verification in a few minutes. To do e-verification, first of all you have to visit the income tax website and login.

After this you have to select the option of e-Verify Return. In the next step, you can do e-verification in the following ways.

  • Aadhaar OTP
  • Net Banking (Your PAN must be linked for this)
  • Bank account or Demat account
  • Digital Signature Certificate

The Government of India had fixed the last date for filing ITR as 31st July, which has now been extended to 15th September. This date has been extended only for those people whose tax returns were not filed till 31st July.

On the other hand, if you have filed your tax return earlier, then it is necessary to get e-verification done within 30 days of filing the tax return. E-verification is as important as filing the income tax return.
