The flood situation in Banaras has become serious due to the rising water level of the Ganges river and continuous rain. In view of this, the district administration has taken a big decision. On the instructions of the District Magistrate, all schools in the district have been closed for two days.

All schools up to class 12 are closed

District School Inspector (DIOS) Bholendra Pratap Singh issued an order stating that all schools from pre-primary to class 12 will remain closed on August 5 and 6. This order will be applicable to all boards including Basic Education Council, Secondary Education Council, CBSE, ICSE and Sanskrit Board schools. He has instructed all the principals to strictly follow this order.

Why was this decision taken?

It has been raining continuously in Banaras for the last few days due to which the water level of river Ganga has increased considerably. Flood water has reached many areas of the city and all the ghats due to which people are facing problems in movement. This step has been taken keeping in mind the safety of the students so that they remain safe from heavy rains and floods.

Information provided to concerned departments

DIOS has also informed the Divisional Commissioner, District Magistrate, Chief Development Officer and all the Sub-District Magistrates about this order. Along with this, a letter has also been sent to the District Basic Education Officer for necessary action. This decision has brought great relief to the students and parents.
