School Closed: Heavy rain and flood-like situation has arisen in Prayagraj. Due to this, the District Magistrate has ordered all schools from pre-primary to class 12 to remain closed till August 7, 2025.

The school administration has been instructed to follow this order and complete other departmental work including DBT, U-DISE Plus from home. The order has been implemented with immediate effect. All government recognized, government aided, ICSE and CBSE board Hindi and English medium schools have been instructed to keep the schools closed till August 7, 2025.

Schools will remain closed in Varanasi on 5th and 6th August

Apart from this, in view of the flood-like situation in Varanasi, the district school superintendent said on Monday that schools up to class 12 of all boards will remain closed on August 5 and 6. In an official statement, the school superintendent said, “Rain and flood situation is seen in Varanasi district. In view of this, as per the instructions of the District Magistrate, all schools from pre-primary to class 12 of all boards (Basic Education Council, Secondary Education Council, CBSE, ICSE and Sanskrit Board) running in the district will remain closed on August 5 and 6. All principals/headmasters have been instructed to strictly follow the order.”

The problem arose due to heavy rains and release of water from barrages

According to media reports, due to heavy rains and water released from barrages, the water level of rivers is rising rapidly in many districts including Prayagraj, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Jhansi, Agra, Kanpur Dehat and Kanpur. Due to this, people are facing problems.

Flood in 13 districts of Uttar Pradesh

Due to heavy rains in Uttar Pradesh, major rivers including Ganga, Yamuna and Betwa are flowing above the danger mark at many places. 13 districts of the state are facing flood situation. According to a report of the Relief Commissioner’s Office, the Ganga river is flowing above the danger mark in Varanasi, Mirzapur, Ghazipur and Ballia, while the Yamuna is above the red mark in Auraiya, Kalpi, Hamirpur, Prayagraj and Banda. According to this, the Betwa river is also flowing above the danger mark in Hamirpur.

At present, 13 districts of the state are facing flood situation. These districts include Prayagraj, Jalaun, Auraiya, Hamirpur, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Kanpur Dehat, Ballia, Banda, Etawah, Fatehpur, Kanpur Nagar and Chitrakoot.
