Railways Cancels, Diverts Trains: Check Full December List.

The Railways are making big changes to train schedules this month due to essential safety work. The East Coast Railway (ECoR) is carrying out Non-Interlocking (NI) activities at Raj Athgarh station. This whole operation is about commissioning the 3rd and 4th railway line between Raj Athgarh and Joranda Road in the Khurda Road Division.

This means manually controlling the points, signals, and tracks—the normal automated safety systems are temporarily disconnected. It’s necessary for major infrastructure upgrades, but it requires them to divert and cancel certain trains to ensure safety.

Train Cancellations

These services are completely canceled on the specified dates:

• 18421 Puri–Sonepur Express: Cancelled on December 11th & 18th, 2025.

• 18422 Sonepur–Puri Express: Cancelled on December 12th & 19th, 2025.

• 18314 Bhubaneswar New–Boudh Express: Cancelled on December 15th, 2025.

• 18313 Boudh–Bhubaneswar New Express: Cancelled on December 15th, 2025.

Train Diversions

Numerous trains will run on altered, longer routes to bypass the work site between December 10th and 20th, 2025. Check the dates for your specific journey carefully:

Major Routes Diverted (December 11th – 19th)

Visakhapatnam and Rourkela Expresses

• 20807 Visakhapatnam–Amritsar Express: Diverted on December 12th, 13th & 16th via Vizianagaram – Rayagada – Sambalpur – Jharsuguda Road.

• 20808 Amritsar–Visakhapatnam Express: Diverted on December 10th, 13th, 14th & 17th via Jharsuguda Road – Sambalpur – Rayagada – Vizianagaram.

• 18117 Rourkela–Gunupur Rajyarani Express: Diverted from December 12th to 19th via Sambalpur – Titlagarh – Singapur Road – Vizianagaram.

• 18118 Gunupur–Rourkela Rajyarani Express: Diverted from December 12th to 20th via Vizianagaram – Singapur Road – Titlagarh – Sambalpur.

Shalimar and Bhubaneswar Expresses

• Shalimar–Sambalpur Trains (20831, 20832, 22803, 22804): These will run via the detour through Kharagpur – Tatanagar – Jharsuguda on their respective scheduled days in mid-December.

• Bhubaneswar–Dhanbad Special (02831/02832): Diverted from December 11th to 19th via Rourkela – Rajkharsawan – Jaroli – Jakhapura – Cuttack.

• 22805 Bhubaneswar–Anand Vihar Terminal Superfast: Diverted on December 13th via Barang – Bhadrak – Hijli – Tatanagar.

• 22806 Anand Vihar Terminal–Bhubaneswar Superfast: Diverted on December 15th via Tatanagar – Hijli – Bhadrak – Barang.

Passengers should plan for longer journey times due to these diversions.
