Public Holiday: Govt Declares Holiday on Wednesday: Schools, Colleges & Offices to Remain Closed

Punjab School Closed- All government/semi-government offices and all educational institutions will remain closed on this day. It is worth mentioning that the holiday of August 20 was not included in the holiday calendar for the year 2025 issued by the Punjab Government.

A holiday has been declared in Sangrur district on August 20 on the occasion of the death anniversary of Shaheed Sant Sri Harchand Singh Longowal. All government/semi-government offices and all educational institutions will remain closed on this day. It is worth mentioning that the holiday of August 20 was not included in the holiday calendar for the year 2025 issued by the Punjab Government.

However, now the state government has issued a notification declaring a local holiday. After this decision, government employees and students of Sangrur district will be able to avail the holiday on August 20.

Deputy Commissioner Sangrur has issued a letter declaring a local holiday. Along with this, the letter has said that these orders will not be applicable to schools and colleges where board or university exams are going on.
