What is Re- KYC ?

The camps are running from 1 July to 30 September 2025
The RBI governor said that with the completion of 10 years of Jan Dhan Yojana, re-KYC of lakhs of accounts has become mandatory. Keeping this in mind, all government banks are organizing camps at every panchayat level in the country from July 1 to September 30, where Jan Dhan account holders can come and get re-KYC done . The purpose of these camps is not only to get KYC done, but also to connect people with many schemes through it.

- Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana ( PMJJBY) – Life insurance of Rs 2 lakh for just Rs 330 per annum.
- Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana ( PMSBY) – Accident insurance of Rs 2 lakh for just Rs 12 per year.
- Atal Pension Yojana ( APY) – Pension scheme for the elderly, through which it will be easy to get a monthly pension of Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000.
- Prime Minister Modi informed on 2 August 2025 that so far 55 crore Jan Dhan accounts have been opened in the country and lakhs of people have successfully got their Re-KYC done. The Prime Minister appealed that every account holder should get their KYC updated as soon as possible , so that their account remains active and they can take advantage of government schemes.
What are the benefits of Jan Dhan Yojana?
- Account opens without any minimum balance.
- Interest is received on the amount deposited in the account.
- You get RuPay debit card, which also includes accident insurance of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh.
- Eligible account holders get overdraft facility of up to Rs 10,000.
- Under DBT , government subsidy comes directly into the account.
How to do Re-KYC?
- Go to your bank or camp with your Aadhar card and address proof.
- Fill the KYC form and submit the documents.
- After the process is completed the bank will update your KYC .

If you opened a Jan Dhan account 10 years ago, and have not updated any information after that, then your Re-KYC will definitely be pending. If you do not get Re-KYC done, your account may be temporarily frozen, which will make it difficult to withdraw money, make transactions or receive subsidies.
