Gold Price Today: Gold prices fell on the second day of Diwali. Gold prices fell today (October 21) due to profit-booking after bullion reached new highs in the previous session. Spot gold fell 0.3% to $4,340.99 per ounce, having reached an all-time high of $4,381.21 on Monday.

Gold Price Today: Gold prices are rising at a cheetah’s speed. Be it gold or silver, the prices of both are skyrocketing. Demand increases during Diwali due to the festival. Meanwhile, gold prices on the Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) have reached above Rs 1.30 lakh per 10 grams. Silver prices also increased by 1% to cross the level of Rs 1.58 lakh. On Monday, gold prices on MCX increased by Rs 3,580 i.e. 2.82% to close at Rs 1,30,588 per 10 grams. Silver prices on MCX also increased by Rs 1,571 i.e. 1% to close at Rs 1,58,175 per kg.

Today (21 October 2025, Tuesday) Indian stock markets and commodity markets will remain closed for normal trading sessions. However, BSE, NSE, MCX and NCDEX will be conducting a special Diwali Muhurat trading session for one hour today to mark the auspicious Hindu calendar year.

The Diwali Muhurat trading session on the Indian stock market will be held today from 1:45 PM to 2:45 PM. Commodities and stocks will trade normally during this special session. Meanwhile, international gold prices fell today due to profit-booking.

Gold prices rise
After hitting an all-time high of $4,381.21 on Monday, spot gold fell 0.3% to $4,340.99 per ounce. US gold futures for December delivery were steady at $4,357.80 per ounce. Further interest rate cuts are expected from the US Federal Reserve. Meanwhile, strong safe-haven demand is pushing gold prices to record highs. Silver fell 1.2% to $51.83 per ounce, platinum fell 0.7% to $1,627.53, and palladium rose 0.1% to $1,497.62.

In Kolkata and Mumbai, the price of 22-carat gold is ₹1,19,790 per 10 grams, while the price of 24-carat gold is ₹1,30,680 per 10 grams. In Chennai, the price of 24-carat gold is ₹1,30,030 per 10 grams. The price of 22-carat gold is ₹1,19,190 per 10 grams.
