The Jammu and Kashmir Finance Department has increased the Children Education Allowance and Hostel Subsidy for government employees by 25%. This decision was taken after the dearness allowance (DA) reached 50%. The education allowance for children with disabilities has also been increased. This increase will be effective from January 1, 2024.
The Finance Department has increased the Children’s Education Allowance and Hostel Subsidy by 25 percent, following the DA of government employees reaching 50 percent on January 1, 2024.
The Finance Department has clarified the 25 percent increase in the Children’s Education Allowance and Hostel Subsidy for government employees. According to an order issued by the department’s Principal Secretary, Santosh D. Vaidya, the Children’s Education Allowance, currently ₹2,250 per month, has been revised to ₹2,812.50 per month.
The hostel subsidy was ₹6,750 per month, which has been increased to ₹8,437.50. The Children’s Education Allowance for children with disabilities was ₹4,500 per month, which has been increased to ₹5,625 per month. The Finance Department has stated that when the DA for government employees reaches 50 percent, the Children’s Education Allowance and Hostel Subsidy will automatically increase by 25 percent.
The department was asked to clarify its position on this matter from several quarters. The department discussed the matter and stated that the 25 percent increase would be effective from January 1, 2024.
