DA Hike Update : The coming week can be very important for lakhs of central government employees and pensioners. According to reports, the Modi government can announce an increase in Dearness Allowance ( DA) by August 15, 2025.
Whenever the government announces an increase in DA , it will be considered applicable only from July 1. Along with this , the process of formation of the 8th Pay Commission is also expected to speed up .
7th Pay Commission is ending on 31 December 2025
The period of the 7th Pay Commission is going to end on 31 December 2025. In such a situation, now the eyes of the employees are on the 8th Pay Commission . About 50 lakh central government employees and about 62 lakh pensioners across the country are expecting a better salary structure from the 8th Pay Commission. Although the government had announced the 8th Pay Commission in January 2025, the chairman of the commission has not been appointed yet. Due to this, its process is getting delayed. But it is believed that now rapid steps will be taken in this direction.
Government salary not only includes basic salary but also many allowances
The salary of a government job is not limited to just the basic salary . It includes many allowances like DA i.e. dearness allowance , HRA i.e. house rent allowance and TA travel allowance. In today’s time, these allowances have become about 50% of the total salary.
DA is reviewed every 6 months
The government reviews the Dearness Allowance ( DA) every 6 months. This review is based on the inflation data ( CPI) . The review for July 2025 has been done, but no official announcement has been made by the government so far. It is believed that a big announcement may be made before 15 August 2025. It is expected that the dearness allowance may increase by 3 to 4 percent.
Salary is decided by the fitment factor
The actual increase in salary is done through the fitment factor. In the 7th Pay Commission, this factor was 2.57. Now according to reports, in the 8th Pay Commission, it can be between 1.83 to 2.46. If an employee’s basic salary is Rs 18,000 and 2.46 fitment factor is applied, then his salary can be up to Rs 44,280.
Employees are waiting for the government’s announcement
Now all the government employees and pensioners are looking forward to the next announcement of the government . If the DA increases and the process of 8th Pay Commission starts, then it can be a relief and happy news for lakhs of people .
