
Cash Withdrawal From ATM: When cash is needed, people usually go to ATMs to withdraw it, but it is important for everyone to know that cash can be withdrawn from ATMs without charge only up to a certain number. After that number the bank takes some charge from your account on cash withdrawal. This number is different for different banks and for urban and rural areas. It also depends on who your bank is and from which bank’s ATM you are withdrawing cash. Also which card do you have?
Three transactions per month are free. After this there are rules and charges of different banks. The Reserve Bank issued a circular last year saying that withdrawals exceeding monthly free transactions will attract a charge of Rs 21 per transaction. The new rule is effective from 1 January 2022.
For State Bank of India (SBI) ATMs located in six metro cities – Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, the maximum limit for free transactions for other bank’s ATMs is three. Customers who have a minimum balance of Rs 50,000 per month in their account have the facility of unlimited transactions at SBI ATMs, but this facility is not available in metro cities, where the number of free transactions is limited to three.
SBI charges Rs 5 to Rs 20 for transactions above the free limit. For non-financial transactions above the free limit, customers are charged Rs 5 at SBI ATMs and Rs 8 at other bank ATMs in addition to the applicable GST rates.
5 transactions in a month are free in PNB ATM. Apart from this, a charge of Rs 10 has to be paid for any financial transaction. Apart from PNB, the rules for transactions from other banks’ ATMs are different. In a month, there is a rule of 3 free transactions in metro cities and 5 free transactions in non-metro cities.
The daily cash withdrawal limit in Axis Bank is Rs 50,000. The daily POS transaction limit is Rs 1,25,000. If there is insufficient amount in the account and the transaction is rejected, a charge of Rs 25 will be levied. Free cash withdrawal of Rs 25,000 in a day at non home branches. For transactions above this, Rs 5 will have to be paid per thousand. The rules for depositing or withdrawing cash in excess of the limit are different.
5 free transactions from ICICI ATM in a month In ICICI Bank, the daily cash withdrawal limit is given to the account holder according to the card and account type. It ranges from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh. 10,000 per withdrawal facility is available if withdrawals are made from ATMs of banks other than ICICI Bank. 5 transactions free from ICICI ATM in a month. After that ATM withdrawal has to be done at Rs 20 plus GST.
Only first 5 withdrawals from HDFC Bank ATMs in a month are free. Transactions above the free limit attract Rs 20 plus tax per transaction for cash withdrawals, Rs 8.5 plus tax for non-financial transactions. ATMs of any other bank include government and private banks. 3 free transactions are allowed in 6 metro cities (Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bengaluru) and 5 free transactions (financial and non-financial) are allowed at other places in a month.
