There is a good news for railway passengers. The Railway Ministry has announced a new experimental “Round Trip Package for Festive Rush” scheme to reduce the rush of passengers in the upcoming festivals and make travel easier.

According to the news of Moneycontrol, according to the circular issued by the Railway Board on 8 August 2025, under this scheme, if the passenger books a confirmed ticket for both ways for the same class, same origin (from where the journey is to start) and destination (where to go), then he will get a discount of 20% on the base fare of the return journey.

Booking can be done from 14th August

According to the news, under the “Round Trip Package for Festive Rush” scheme, booking of such train tickets will start from August 14, 2025, in which the journey should be between October 13 to October 26, 2025. The return journey will have to be booked between November 17 and December 1, 2025 through the “Connecting Journey” feature. Advance reservation period will not be applicable on return ticket booking. This scheme will be applicable to all classes and trains, except those trains in which flexi-fare system is applicable, and will be valid only for confirmed tickets.

To avail the discount on the ticket, the passenger has to first book an onward ticket and then book a return ticket with connecting journey feature for the same class and OD pair. This facility is available both online and across the counter. One thing to note is that no refund, correction or other discount will be given on tickets booked under this scheme.
